In November of last year, we spent the month looking at 2 Chronicles 7:14 to find four turns a nation can take to receive healing and forgiveness from God. “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
As we celebrate our Nation’s birth on the 4th, I hope we turn towards prayer. When the churches in America, fall repeatedly, humbly and desperately on our knees before God in prayer… it is then we position America under the grace and mercy of God.
You see, just like God wanted to forgive and heal His people back in the time of King Solomon… God wants to do the same for His people today. But we need to humble ourselves… turn back to our God and position ourselves to receive His forgiveness and healing.
Prayer turns us toward God. Prayer positions us under God. Prayer releases the promises and the power of God upon His people.
I love what Pastor and Author, David Jeremiah said about prayer, “Scripture insists that God has hardwired the universe in such a way that He works primarily through prayer. God has set up creation so that the way He does His work is through the prayers of His children. At the moment we pray, we become subject to the most powerful force in the universe.”
The United States of America needs the most powerful force in the universe to do a good work and change us…heal us…redeem us.
This will only happen when God’s people… His Church… You and I… take our place, on our knees on behalf of this Nation that desperately needs God. America needs God’s people, who are called by His name, to humble ourselves and pray!
