Drift

As parents we sometimes get lost in the busyness of schedules, or diapers, or car keys (depending on your phase). Darryl spoke on Sunday about the scariest drift that can happen to any Christian, moreover any Christian parent: “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” (Hebrews 2:1)

I distinctly remember a time when I was driving back from my family’s homeland in Arkansas. It was very late at night and I began to drift asleep and off the road. This was old school—before all the roads had rumble strips. I woke seconds before I hit a guard rail.

Have you ever had that moment as a Christian? As a parent? You wake up one moment and you realize you have been yelling at your kids for weeks. You wake up one moment and realize there is a big sin issue that has drawn you away from God. Or maybe, you wake up and just don’t feel like your normal self.

Starting February 1st, I am leading a digital revolution to take back the wheel of our spiritual lives. It’s called YouVersion and they have just released a new “Bible with Friends” feature. Starting with the elementary parents, I’m leading a digital Bible study. A simple 7 days to cultivate a habit that will keep us awake and not drift from God.

If you want to join us, please feel free to reach out and I will help. Even if you don’t own a computer, I will make sure you can join as we begin something new to not drift away!
